Purdue lab able to detect UK COVID-19 variant
Purdue is one of the only labs in Indiana actively looking for and able to detect the UK variant of the COVID-19 virus.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) Purdue s Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory and College of Veterinary Medicine is able to do genetic testing to identify variants of COVID-19. We are very fortunate that in January our scientist were taking the lead to identify some of the genetic markers that were clues, said Dean for the College of Pharmacy, Eric Barker.
Barker, said there are typically genetic markers when testing for COVID-19 that confirm a positive case however with the UK variant one of those genetic markers isn t visible.
