Arun Kumar Singh, Bihar Chief Secretary, died at a local hospital in Patna on Friday due to complications arising from Coronavirus. A 1985-batch Bihar cadre IAS officer, Singh was appointed the Chief Secretary of Bihar only a couple of months ago on February 27, 2021.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sent his condolence to the family of Singh saying he was extremely pained by the sudden passing away of the Chief Secretary while also ordering a full state funeral for him.
In his condolence message Kumar said here that Mr Singh was an able administrator and his death was like an irrepairable loss to the administration and society.

New Delhi: Â A 43-year-old under-trial prisoner of Tihar Jail died on Tuesday, a day after he tested positive for COVID-19, officials said.
Mohammad Anish, lodged in prison since December 2019 in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and was admitted to a jail hospital with mild symptoms, they said.
“On Tuesday morning, his condition deteriorated and he was referred to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in emergency. Later, he died in the hospital in the afternoon,” Director General (Prisons) Sandeep Goel said.

Delhi govt allows hospitals to engage retired nursing, para-medical staff.
Amid a massive surge in COVID-19 cases in the city, the Delhi government on Tuesday allowed hospitals to engage retired nursing and para-medical staff to handle the situation. In view of the surge of the COVID pandemic and to meet the demand of increased manpower, the medical directors/medical superintendents/directors of all COVID Hospitals of the Delhi government are authorised to engage nursing and para-medical staff who have either retired as on March 31, 2021 or are retiring soon on contractual basis for a period of six months or up to September 30 whichever is earlier, an official order said.
