By Rachel Conner-Hill echorachelc Chief Reporter (Tees Valley & North Yorkshire) PRIME Minister Boris Johnson made his second visit to Hartlepool ahead of the town s upcoming by-election, promising jabs, jabs, jabs and jobs, jobs, jobs . Mr Johnson visited Hartlepool United Football Club s Victoria Park today as he made a visit to the region ahead of the by-election on May 6. Mr Johnson was with Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen and Jill Mortimer, the Conservative candidate in the Hartlepool Parliamentary by-election as they took a tour of the club and spoke to players and officials. He was presented with a number ten shirt from the club while Mr Houchen and Ms Mortimer also received shirts, before kicking a ball with some younger players and posing for pictures on the pitch.

Jessie Joe Jacobs, who is aiming to oust Ben Houchen in the May elections, has vowed to continue with funding already agreed as part of the airport’s rescue plan. Ms Jacobs has previously criticised the amount of money spent on the airport, describing the total spend during the pandemic on terminal redevelopments as a big concern.

A new summer route from Teesside to Dublin has been shelved due to low demand. Loganair had planned to take off from Teesside International Airport to the Irish capital on May 3 this year.

Jessie Joe Jacobs, Labour s candidate met veterans in Hardwick House, Middlesbrough, a supported housing project for single ex-service veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming rough sleepers. One of the veterans that Ms Jacobs met, John, said: I served my time in the Scottish regiment, then I moved from Newcastle up to Scotland, moved in with my now ex-girlfriend. I then tried to go back to the place I was in but they wouldn t let me back in. So I phoned this place, and they said get yourself down, so I came down on the 19th February this year.
