North Carolina man accused of sex crimes facing new charges

KENANSVILLE, N.C. (AP) A North Carolina man charged by authorities earlier this year with taking indecent liberties with a child is facing new charges after victims from years ago came forward, a sheriff s office said.
The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office said Delmus “Buddy” Foss was charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child stemming from a Nov. 7, 2020 investigation, news outlets reported. Deputies said once their investigation began into the assault of a 6-year-old girl who lived in the Beulaville area, several adults came forward to make more accusations of sexual assault against Foss that they said happened during their childhoods.
CLINTON A Clinton man was arrested Tuesday in the shooting of a Sampson County jail employee on her lunch break, according to a news release from the county s Sheriff s Office.
Jahleek Joyner, of 93 Water House Circle, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by felon in the shooting of Zarya Ashley, 21, a detention officer with the Sampson County Sheriff s Office, the release said.
Deputies were called to Joyner s home at 1 p.m. where they found Ashley laying critically injured on the ground outside the home with an apparent gunshot wound, the release said.
An investigation between Duplin and Onslow County detectives led to a lengthy prison sentence for a Duplin County drug dealer.
Robert Baxter, 51, was sentenced last week to 97 months (8 years) in prison for one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, distribution of five hundred (500) grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute fifty (50) grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.
On Sept. 20, 2019 Duplin County Narcotics detectives served a search warrant at Baxter s home on Back Swamp Road. During the search, detectives found an ounce and half of 98% pure methamphetamine. On Oct. 16, 2019, Duplin and Onslow County detectives went to a home associated with Baxter on Dunn Road in Sneads Ferry. During that search, they found a quantity of methamphetamine and a digital scale.

DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The man wanted for murder in a Duplin County chicken plant shooting has been arrested more than two months later.
On Thursday, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office says the US Marshals in Rockingham County took 34-year-old Antwan Wright into custody. He’s charged with murder in the death of 29-year-old Darius Atkins from Wayne County.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the House of Raeford Plant on U.S. 117 north of Rose Hill back on November 25.
North Carolina Man Stabs Estranged Wife Over 15 Times, Throws Her Off Balcony

A man in North Carolina was charged with attempted murder after he stabbed his estranged wife several times before throwing her off the balcony.
On Wednesday night, Mathew Stallings of New Hanover County broke into his estranged wife’s apartment at the New Providence Park Apartment Homes while she was asleep. Stallings then woke her up and stabbed her 15 times before throwing her off the second-floor balcony.
The woman, identified as Elaine Kinn, dropped approximately 14 feet before hitting the ground.
Kinn suffered life-threatening injuries as five of the stab wounds were to her neck. She was rushed to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Kinn is currently reported to be in stable condition, the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said, NBC-affiliated television station WECT reported.
