It started with gratitude: a simple idea to acknowledge and appreciate the dedication of health-care workers who serve. Faith Rivera, a young adult at Younger Generation (YG) Church in Arlington, Texas, United States, pitched the idea of offering Valentine’s appreciation gifts to all the frontline workers at Texas Health Mansfield, a hospital that opened recently.
“I wanted to start this project to thank the health-care workers for all they do, day in and day out,” Rivera said.

Texas Health Mansfield expanded its role during last week’s historic winter storm, which left millions of Texans out in the cold. Staff converted sections of the on-campus office building into warming stations and recharge zones for staff, their families, and even their pets.
“It really wasn’t even a question of whether or not we would do it. It was just figuring out how we’re going to get it done,” says Kenneth Rose, President and CEO of Texas Health Mansfield. “So for us, in seeing the need with a lack of power and water, we quickly realized we were going to have to use this as a time to step up for our team and get them in the building and get them taken care of so that they and their families were safe.”

Since opening in December 2020, Texas Health Hospital Mansfield in Mansfield, Texas, United States, has been faced with many challenges: the COVID-19 pandemic, an unexpected surge of patients, and the historic winter storm.
All of this has only made the hospital’s team stronger, according to the health-care institution’s leaders. They believe everyone has risen to the occasion without hesitation. From the start, the hospital personnel has teamed up to care for each other and their patients like family.
When the snow came down, the hospital team stepped up.
