Those doses provided to Texas by the federal government will be distributed to 212 providers statewide, which includes 82 vaccine hubs.
According to data provided by the state, as of Sunday Texas has received 3,213,025 total vaccine doses, 2,807,050 doses have been shipped, 1,459,293 Texans have received at least one vaccine dose, and 254,687 people in the state have been fully vaccinated.
The shipments are arriving as numbers indicate the post-holiday COVID-19 surge may be leveling off somewhat. Still, the sheer number of new cases and hospitalizations in Texas remains troubling, with DSHS on January 20 tweeting, “Update: Texas must avoid an additional surge in cases. Hospitals can’t take much more. Fatalities are still increasing.”
