BONHAM â Rising active Covid-19 cases in Fannin County are primarily contained within state prison units, Commissioner Jerry Magness reported Tuesday.
By Monday afternoon, active cases in the county had risen to 33 but 30 of those were either state prison staff or prisoners, Magness said. The county has had 3,464 total cases since March 2020, with 2,612 confirmed and 852 probable. There have been 108 virus-related deaths while 3,391 people have recovered, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
After hearing the updated numbers, commissioners approved without change another one-week extension for the countyâs Covid-19 disaster declaration and its response and continuity of operations plan.
Texoma prepares for statewide upgrades to 9-1-1 services

Texoma cities, counties and other community partners are taking the final steps toward preparing for upcoming statewide 9-1-1 updates this fall. Representatives with the Texoma Council of Governments and partner cities said the region should be ready later this year for changes aimed at modernizing and standardizing emergency response across Texas.
Last week, the city of Denison approved a budget amendment related to the purchase of new communications equipment and software for police and fire dispatch. This marks the final regional partner to make the upgrades ahead of changes to next-generation 9-1-1 technology.

Grayson County commissioners will make the results of the Senate District 30 runoff election official Tuesday by canvassing the results.
The court s last meeting of 2020 will start at 10 a.m. in the East Courtroom of the Grayson County Courthouse in Sherman and will be available to stream online at https://www.co.grayson.tx.us/page/co.ccvideo.
In addition to looking over the election results, commissioners will consider a request by the Grayson County Sheriff s Office to allow that office to take ownership of a tactical robot from the Texoma Council of Governments. The material in the court s agenda didn t say what the robot does exactly, but it did say it cost $31,000 and was paid for with federal funds. The agenda material said the robot will be used by special teams at the GCSO.
