Teton County school board decides against choosing metrics for COVID-19 decisions

With schools in uncharted waters facing the COVID-19 pandemic, numbers that dictate when schools close and reopen could be a guiding tool, but the school district continues to operate without them. “We’re often asked to set specific metrics to make our decisions,” Superintendent Gillian Chapman said. “I would love to be able to do that. It would be so much easier for us.” Teton County School District No. 1 has so far not specified guardrails with which to make COVID-19-related choices. At its December meeting the district board of trustees again declined to choose any, despite discussing the matter.

Teton County schools to maintain hybrid schedule after winter break

Jackson Hole public schools will remain on the hybrid schedule when students return from winter break Jan. 4. The district has explicitly said any big changes would need board approval. Until then, no news means a continuation of the status quo. “When the time comes that we are able to change those student schedules, we will certainly clearly communicate to families and the community that that’s happening,” district Communications Director Charlotte Reynolds said.
