The search is on for new head of Washington County Schools

The Washington County Board of Education has hired the Tennessee School Boards Association to lead its search for the systemâs next director of schools. School Board Chairman Jason Day said Friday he and his colleagues hope to have a new director under contract well before the current head of the school system, Bill Flanary, retires on June 30. âWe hope to be able to offer a contract on March 15, and announce the new director on March 22,â Day said. The new director would officially take office on July 1, one day after Flanary leaves the position. Day said the school board expects the TSBA to present it with a list of âthree to five good candidatesâ for the job sometime in the next three weeks.

Abelow named president of Nashville Bar Association Friday, December 25, 2020, Vol. 44, No. 52 Mike Abelow, member at Sherrard Roe Voigt and Harbison, has been named 2021 president of the Nashville Bar Association. Abelow litigates complex business disputes, with a focus on business disputes that involve either party threatening to or filing for bankruptcy. He was a litigator with the Federal Trade Commission before moving to Nashville in 2007. Before becoming a board member of the NBA, Mike chaired the Federal Courts Committee and the Sister Cities Committee. In addition to his work with the NBA, he is a board member of the Tennessee Justice Center, which he served as board president, the Nashville Urban Debate League and Seven Hills Swim and Tennis Club.

McClurg remembered for devotion to Alcoa City Schools

Harry B. âMickeyâ McClurgâs name is on Alcoa City Schoolsâ board room, but his decades of devotion to the district left an impact across the district.
