Kolkata, March 15 : Gokulam Kerala FC dropped two vital points in their quest for the I-League title as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Kashmir FC at the VYBK Stadium on Monday.
Basit Ahmed Bhat s first-half goal for Kashmir was cancelled by Dennis Antwi s 24th-minute penalty kick as both teams shared the points. With this draw, Gokulam find themselves two points adrift of league leaders Churchill Brothers as things stand, but could very well find themselves at third if TRAU win their clash against RoundGlass Punjab FC.
Kerala are now level on points with third-placed TRAU and six points behind league leaders Churchill Brothers.
With vital points on the line for both contingents, the opening minutes of the match witnessed end-to-end stuff with both teams having a chance to take the lead. The first opportunity of the match fell to Dennis Antwi in the 8th minute when he latched onto a Mayakannan low-cross, however, his shot on the turn went inches wide of the goal.
For RoundGlass Punjab FC, it was Papa Diawara with a chance to put them ahead. In the 14th minute, Chencho Gyeltshen found Diawara inside the box with a swirling cross, but the forward failed to hit the target with his strike.
