Suffolk fire crews called to blaze in Denham Street near Eye

Published: 5:57 PM May 3, 2021    Updated: 9:21 PM May 3, 2021 Eleven fire engines have been called to the blaze in Denham Street near Stradbroke (file image) - Credit: Charlotte Bond Dozens of firefighters worked to put out flames at a metal recycling scrapyard on the outskirts of a Suffolk village.  Eleven fire engines were originally called to the scene, at Nationwide Metal Recycling in Denham Street, near Stradbroke, but this was scaled down to six an hour later with all crews leaving around 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday.  A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said 11 engines were originally called to reports of a fire in a workshop at the premises. 

UPDATE: Police investigating Rocky carpark fight

Premium Content UPDATE, 12.20pm: Police are currently investigating a fight that broke out in an Allenstown carpark after 11am on Monday, April 26. A Queensland police spokesman said they were speaking with a number of parties in relation to the incident. The spokesman said the Queensland Ambulance Service was notified, but both men involved in the fight declined their services. The two men have since left separately. Nobody has been charged yet.   EARLIER: Police are dealing with a fight that has taken place in a Rockhampton carpark on Monday, April 26. A Queensland Police spokeswoman said they were notified of two men fighting in a Denham Street carpark in Allenstown after 11am.

Alleged assault on riverbank reported at 1am

Premium Content Subscriber only A verbal argument reportedly turned physical on the riverbank in the early hours of Thursday morning. Emergency services were called to Quay Street, near the Denham Street intersection, for an alleged assault at 1.20am. Paramedics treated a female patient in her 30s for facial injuries. She was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition. It is believed the pair were known to each other. No police charges have been laid at this stage. alleged assault
