The body s sec-gen talks about its new campaign that urges consumers to register complaints against misleading ads than ignoring them.
Misleading ads, in a perfect society, wouldnât exist but thatâs wishful thinking. In reality, concerned consumers look up to the Advertising Standards Council of India or ASCI, the self-regulatory organisation of Indiaâs advertising industry.
Established in 1985, it has taken the mantle to investigate ads that consumers have accused of being misleading (ASCI also picks ads on a suo moto basis to investigate) and doles out rulings asking the advertiser to modify or remove said ad(s).

But scientists have learned a lot this year about the coronavirus and how it’s transmitted, and it turns out all that scrubbing and disinfecting might not be necessary.
If a person infected with the coronavirus sneezes, coughs or talks loudly, droplets containing particles of the virus can travel through the air and eventually land on nearby surfaces. But the risk of getting infected from touching a surface contaminated by the virus is low, says Emanuel Goldman, a microbiologist at Rutgers University.
