Computer crash hits 911 center
The Taylor County Communications Center has been forced to resort to handheld radios to dispatch law enforcement, fire rescue and first responders to emergency calls after a major computer system failure.
According to Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Undersheriff Marty Tompkins, it will cost approximately $134,000 to replace the 12-year-old computer system because the county cannot get the parts needed to fix the equipment.
