BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WAFB) - The Southern menâs basketball team saw its season come to an end against Grambling in the quarterfinal round of the SWAC Basketball Tournament at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
The Jags fell 72-67 in overtime to the Tigers. Southern finished 8-11 overall and 8-6 in the SWAC.
Harrison Henderson came off the bench to lead the Jaguars with 20 points. He also had seven rebounds. SWAC Freshman of the Year Terrell Williams Jr. had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Samkelo Cele chipped in 11 points and grabbed seven boards.
Samkelo Cele had 22 points as Southern defeated Alcorn State 89-75 on Saturday. Jayden Saddler had 16 points for Southern (8-8, 8-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which won its fourth straight game. Harrison Henderson added 14 points.

Harrison Henderson, Lamarcus Lee, Brendon Brooks, Terrell Williams Jr. and Samkelo Cele have collectively accounted for 45 percent of the team’s scoring this year and 49 percent of all Jaguars points over the last five games.CLUTCH CALEB: Caleb Hunter has connected on 26.7 percent of the 75 3-pointers he’s attempted and has made 5 of 19 over the last three games. He’s also made 50 percent of his free throws this season.
