Afton Woman Charged With Felony Drug Possession A woman has been indicted on possession of illegal drugs while she was incarcerated in a local jail.  The woman also faces illegal contraband charges. Jessica M. Palmatier, 39 of Afton, is charged with secreting drugs on her person prior to her arrest in Otsego County and then her subsequent boarding at the Delaware County jail the same day.  The incident took place on November 30, 2020. Delaware County Sheriff s investigators have charged the Afton woman with  possession of more than 25 grams of Methamphetamine and more than 5 grams of Fentanyl while in the Delaware County Jail.  A grand jury has issued the following charges against the woman:  they include two Class B felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, as well as two more charges of Class D felony counts of promoting prison contraband in the first degree.

Delhi Man Charged With 2 Felonies in Domestic Dispute Multiple felony charges are filed stemming from an investigation into a domestic dispute in Delhi earlier this month.  After an investigation it was detrmined that the altercation involved a weapon. In a press release posted on their Facebook page, from Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond, it was stated that Alan J. Reese, 59, a Delhi resident was arrested on a number of charges and is currently jailed. Deputies responded to a 911 call on Monday morning April 5, 2021.  They were accompanied on the call by campus police officers from the State University of New York at Delhi.  At the scene. which was a Main Street residence, officers discovered an on-going altercation which involved a weapon.  Following an investigation, Mr. Reese was arrested.  After the domestic incident was resolved, Reese was taken into custody and was charged on multiple felony counts including burglary in the second degree, criminal contempt in the f

Molé Work is underway for members of Delaware County’s police reform committee, but has amassed criticism from members of the community. Tasked with performing a “comprehensive review of current police force deployments, strategies, policies, procedures, and practices” by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a June 20 executive order, 10 of the committee’s 13 original members met for the first time Nov. 4 at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Absent were Delaware County District Attorney John Hubbard and public defender Joseph Ermeti, whose offices are required by the order to be represented, and Simon Purdy, an assistant professor of criminal justice at SUNY Delhi.
