The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce presented the Hon. Margaret Rose Henry, a former Delaware senator, with the Dick DiSabatino Award at its 184th annual dinner Jan. 11. The event, held virtually, was attended by nearly 800 elected officials and business and community leaders.
The Dick DiSabatino Award, named for former chamber Chairman Richard DiSabatino Sr., was established in the mid-1990s to recognize significant contributions that shape opinion and public policy in the state of Delaware.
The rare honor was last presented in 2019 to the Hon. Joseph G. DiPinto, former state representative. The award was given in 2013 to John H. Taylor Jr., executive director of the Delaware Public Policy Institute.
When Joe Biden takes the Oath of Office and is sworn in as the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday, January 20, standing alongside the former vice president will be Dr. Jill Biden. The couple has been married since June 17, 1977, when they wed during his first term as a Delaware senator. During their more than 43 years of marital bliss, Joe and Jill have stood by each other throughout tragic lows including the death of his oldest son and triumphant highs, such as two terms served as vice president and second lady, and the victorious 2020 campaign.

The Democrat arrived in the US capital yesterday shortly after President Donald Trump s speedy morning exit on Marine and Air Force One bound for Florida, snubbing the new President on his inauguration day. He swore the oath of office with his hand on an inches thick bible clutched by his wife, Dr Jill Biden.

Dr. Jill Biden has been by Joe Biden s side since before his tenure as vice president, and even before his first run for president in 1987. In their 40-plus years of marriage, they ve expanded their family, welcomed multiple grandchildren, and moved into the White House. They ve also endured the painful tragedy of losing a son, Beau Biden, to brain cancer in 2015. She is so damn tough and loyal, the president-elect said about his wife last August.
Now, the longtime couple are heading back to the White House as Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump in 2020 presidential election. All eyes may be on Joe for now, but don t forget about Jill, a longtime educator, proud military mom, and prankster grandmother. After her husband was elected, she responded to the victory with a sweet photo, writing, He will be a President for all of our families.

At its 184th annual dinner, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce awarded its prestigious Josiah Marvel Cup Award to Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Francis D. Vavala.
Established in 1951, the Marvel Cup honors a Delawarean who has made an outstanding contribution to the state, community or society. The state chamber’s highest honor is named in memory of the Hon. Josiah Marvel, who reorganized and served as the chamber’s first president in 1913. As a tradition, recipients of the Marvel Cup are kept secret until the night of the dinner.
