Included on the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission’s Thursday, May 13 agenda is an application filed by Baywood LLC for a rezoning to make way for Baywood Gardens, a 514-unit apartment complex on the north and south sides of Long Neck Road about one-half mile east of the Route 24 intersection.
The applicant is seeking to rezone the 54-acre parcel from B-1, neighborhood business district, C-1, general commercial district, and CR-1, commercial-residential district, to HR-RPC, high-density residential planned community. The project would be adjacent to the existing Baywood Greens.
At buildout, the community would add 2,827 average vehicle trips per day to the road system in the Long Neck area. The development would have 27.5 acres of contiguous open space, with 18 acres of the existing 23 acres of woodlands to be cut down.
No reason was given for the closing. A message left with the company was not immediately returned.
The Naf Naf chain was founded in 2009 in the Chicago suburbs by the late Sahar Sander, who wanted to introduce customers to authentic handmade recipes true to his Middle Eastern upbringing.
It served chicken shawarma, falafel and pita bread made daily in the restaurant s bakery. Customers stood in line and moved down an assembly line choosing ingredients they wanted in pitas or bowls. The restaurant had a seating area and offered food to go.
The Stanton restaurant was Naf Naf s first Delaware location in a new retail and restaurant complex off Churchmans Road that includes First Watch and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

In late January, when vaccine supplies were limited, Delaware health officials used a waiting list to prioritize distribution of the shots to people over the age of 65. As supplies grew more plentiful, that waiting list was expanded to include younger Delawareans and others at higher risk for infection and worse outcomes.
Since Jan. 20, more than 200,000 Delawareans have signed up for the waiting list. Using the list to send residents to drive-through vaccination sites and other large-scale events, the state administered nearly 100,000 shots. Its vaccine partner Curative used the list to administer more than 55,000 shots in connection with Delaware Technical Community College.
