A fire Sunday caused heavy damage to a storage building in Harrington.
According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, members of Harrington Fire Company responded to the 200-block of Fernwood Drive near Jackson Ditch Road Sunday afternoon. The fire started inside the building, and damage is estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Harrington Fire Company says the fire was under control in about one hour.

Report of possible pipe bomb closes road in Bridgeville

Delaware State Police closed a road in Bridgeville for several hours Wednesday to investigate a possible pipe bomb.
A community member picking up trash along Coverdale Road south of Mill Park Drive called 911 around 10 a.m. because they discovered a pipe contraption they suspected was a bomb, according to police.
The Delaware State Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit and Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist with the investigation. A news release shows the device could not be positively identified as a bomb, but was successfully destroyed.
A man was killed in a house fire in the 1200 block of Carr Road Thursday.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 9:20 a.m., on December 31, 2020, and the first units reported fire out a window from the one-story home.
A neighbor alerted crews that a person might still be inside.

The man was found, and pulled out of the dwelling by firefighters, but was in cardiac arrest while being treated by New Castle County paramedics before being taken to the hospital.
The fire was extinguished in about an hour.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal s Office is investigating the cause of the fire . The home sustained about $200,000 in damage, investigators said.
