Police operatives in ‘A’ Division of the Delta Police Command, Ughelli, with the assistance of members of vigilance group, have killed two armed robbery suspects during a gun duel on Sunday.
One of the suspects reportedly escaped with bullet wounds after the police foiled the criminal gang’s attempt to rob customers who were leaving a bank’s ATM at about 3.00 p.m on Sunday after withdrawing some money.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed that the police operatives had received a distress call that the gang of three armed robbers were operating close to one of the new generation banks along Market road Ughelli and they swung into action immediately.

The deceased is simply identified as Omamuzo, a.k.a, Apere, DAILY POST can report.
Details as to why he was killed were still sketchy as of the time of this report.
It was learnt that the gunman numbering about three stormed a shop owned by a woman and ordered her and her customers to lie face down and submit their money.
The deceased refused and instead argued with the suspected armed robbers who shot him to death and made away with loots from the shop.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, who has now been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the report in a telephone chat with our Correspondent in Warri.

Gunmen on Wednesday shot dead one Adams Amakel, in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
DAILY POST gathered that the deceased, popularly referred to as Ten over Ten, was killed after he opened a new hair dressing saloon in the area.
Details as to why he was killed were still sketchy at the time of this report.
It was, however, learnt that the gunmen stormed the area in a Toyota Corolla car that had no number plate and shot him twice on his chest.
When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the development.

Officials of the Delta State-owned joint security outfit, Operation Delta Hawk, have shot dead a woman, barely three weeks after its inauguration by the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The deceased, identified as Amaka Ohanaja, is said to be a petty trader who was attending to her business on Wednesday, along the New General Hospital Road, Asaba.
This was when a stray bullet from the Operation Delta Hawk officials hit her and she died on the spot.
