Delgado had been fighting COVID-19 for the past year, but the virus finally claimed his life Thursday.   At 67 years old, Detective Delgado spent most of his life behind the badge. At 17 years old, he joined the Army. Four years later, he became a police officer.

Authorities identified the suspect as Juan Bautista-Lopez. He was charged with transport, attempt to transport and conspire to transport migrants. On May 4, Homeland Security Investigations special agents obtained evidence that led to the arrest of Bautista-Lopez. The case, however, dates back to Jan. 14. At about 7:10 a.m., special agents responded to a possible human smuggling attempt at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on U.S. 59 southwest of Freer. Special agents launched an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Daniel Delgado Davila.

Nothing Bundt Cakes plans to open what’s expected to be the cake shop chain’s first Richmond-area location at 11845 W. Broad St. in the Kroger-anchored Corner at Short Pump shopping center. The franchise group behind the upcoming location inked a lease in April. The store is taking up residence in the space formerly occupied by Saladworks, which closed in March 2020. True to its name, Nothing Bundt Cakes bakes and sells bundt cakes in a variety of sizes, styles and flavors.
