DeFuniak Springs firefighters were the first to arrive on scene where three juveniles were home alone. All three made it out safely and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire using less than 50 gallons of water.  Three cats also were rescued from the home, according to the release. Crews stayed on scene to further investigate the home for fire extension throughout the kitchen cabinets, attic and adjoining wall spaces. An EMS crew with Walton County Fire Rescue also assisted with extinguishment and salvage operations.  The scene was commanded by Argyle Volunteer Fire Chief Jonathan Day, who will be making contact with the State Fire Marshal’s Office as well as the American Red Cross for financial assistance and displacement resources for the family.
