EVANSVILLE, Ind. Deaconess Health System gave COVID-19 vaccinations to several unnamed employees on Tuesday, the day before an event it had billed as the first COVID-19 vaccinations administered by Deaconess.
The vaccine, intended at first for frontline health care workers, arrived at Deaconess Tuesday morning. Deaconess had already invited news organizations to attend a Wednesday morning event at Deaconess Gateway Hospital at which, it said, frontline medical professionals would be the first to be vaccinated.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Tuesday was a historic day in the Tri-State’s fight against the coronavirus, as Deaconess Health System officials say doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine arrived Tuesday morning.
Dr. Porter later confirmed to 14 News that five vaccinations were given Tuesday morning as part of the training. Therefore, the first vaccines have been given in the Tri-State.

The first doses of COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the Evansville area Tuesday at Deaconess Health System, hospital officials said in a release to media Tuesday morning.
Deaconess anticipated receiving 1,950 doses of the vaccine manufactured by biotech firm Pfizer, the first to get emergency federal approval. It s the first of what Deaconess hopes will be many deliveries.
The vaccine will be stored in an ultra-cold freezer inside a laboratory but given widespread security concerns, Deaconess won t say where that freezer is located. Deaconess Midtown Hospital is in Downtown Evansville, and Deaconess Gateway Hospital is in Warrick County. Deaconess did say just one of its locations is involved in storage.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Fed Ex and UPS trucks carrying the biggest weapon of defense against the coronavirus could soon be heading into the Tri-State.
The CDC officially laid out plans for how this vaccine will be handled.
A lot happened just in the last week at the federal level that is ending help here locally.
Right now, we know Deaconess Health System is preparing for the arrival of 1,950 doses of the Pfizer vaccine by as early as Wednesday of this week.
