Two are arraigned in city murder cases | News, Sports, Jobs

YOUNGSTOWN Erik E. Jenkins, 25, of Columbus, was arraigned Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in connection with the March 4 murder of Thomas C. Williams, 34, and the wounding of a security guard. The shooting took place in the parking lot of King’s Court tavern, 3223 South Ave. Magistrate Dominic DeLaurentis of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court kept Jenkins’ $1 million bond in place after Jenkins pleaded not guilty by video from the Mahoning County jail. Jenkins was indicted on murder, attempted murder and felonious assault in a case that took a surprising turn when authorities revealed that Jenkins is charged in Williams’ death, but it may not have been his gunshots that killed Williams.

YOUNGSTOWN The city man charged March 2 with killing former Youngstown State University football player Darius Shackleford, 24, in a Feb. 6 crash on Albert Street was arraigned Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court. Adrienne D. Washington Jr., 19, was apprehended and placed in the Mahoning County jail Tuesday. He is being held on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Carla Baldwin at 10 a.m. March 19. He is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and felony leaving the scene of an accident. Youngstown police said Washington’s car hit Shackleford’s car at 11:54 p.m. at the intersection of Albert Street and McGuffey Avenue while Washington was fleeing from a Youngstown police car. Washington fled on foot after the crash but was apprehended by police.

Mar 3, 2021 YOUNGSTOWN A criminal complaint was filed Tuesday in Youngstown Municipal Court charging Adrienne E. Washington Jr., 19, with aggravated vehicular homicide and felony leaving the scene of an accident in the Feb. 6 crash that killed former Youngstown State University football player Darius Shackleford, 24. Washington is not in custody, and no arraignment date is listed in the case. Youngstown police said Washington’s car hit Shackelford’s car at 11:54 p.m. at the intersection of Albert Street and McGuffey Avenue while Washington was fleeing from a Youngstown police car. Washington fled on foot but was apprehended. Shackelford was from Newark and was part of the YSU football team from 2015 to 2020.
