PIERRE – Pierre Governor Girls Basketball has a SoDak 16 matchup on the road with the Stevens Raiders Friday at Carold Heier Gymnasium in Rapid City. Pierre, who won its final regular-season game against Brookings 56-38 on February 23, is 7-12 and the 11th seed. Stevens. who topped the Governors in Pierre 59-40 on January 8, is 14-5 and the sixth seed.
Pierre Head Coach Kirk Beebout said that there have been good practices since the win over Brookings.
A Pierre boys team hasn’t had a three-game winning streak since 2017. The Governors will try to achieve that Friday against Douglas in Box Elder. Coverage will begin Friday evening at 7:30 on the Official Voice of the Pierre Governors, River 92.7, with DRG Media Group Sports Director David Burrall calling the action. PIERRE – Pierre Governor girls basketball is set to begin a new season with a new head coach. Kirk Beebout takes over after having spent 12 seasons as the boys head coach at Hamlin. He replaces Scott DeBoer, who resigned earlier this year before moving with his wife to Watertown.
Beebout was pleased that there was a little more time than usual to prepare.
