Attorneys for the state argued in court on Tuesday that Wabash Township Trustee Jennifer Teising’s request for a change of venue and prosecutor should be denied.
Teising was indicted in May on charges that she had illegally withdrawn her trustee salary while not a legal resident of the township, charges she denies.
In late June, Teising s attorney, Karen Celestino-Horseman, filed for a change of venue and a special prosecutor, arguing that Teising would not receive a fair trial in Tippecanoe or surrounding counties because of “inflamed” passions due to extensive pretrial publicity.

Sister M. Lenore Schwartz, assigned to St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette since 2000, became the latest in the area to be presented the Sagamore of the Wabash, Indiana s highest citizen award.
State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette), who presented Sister Lenore with the award, nominated her for her years of dedication to the education and betterment of Indiana communities, Alting s release stated. Our community is lucky to have Sister Lenore among us, Alting said in the May 27 announcement. Her wisdom and faith are a testament to her vocation and compassion, and I can t thank her enough for all she has done.
