HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Pfizer is the only vaccine approved for young adults ages 16 and 17, but the age is expected to be lowered to include 12- to 15-year-olds within the next few days if the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorizes the move, according to the Associated Press.
Some medical experts say getting more younger people vaccinated is the next step to keeping everyone safe.
âI think some of what will make the path to herd immunity easier will be the opening up vaccination to children,â said Dr. Danny Avula, the Virginia State Vaccination Coordinator.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Walgreens, Walmart and CVS drug stores all say COVID-19 tests will be available on their shelves and online in the next few days.
They said they have different variations of the COVID-19 test.
CVS leaders said tests include the Ellume COVID-19 Home Test, the Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Self Test and the Pixel by Labcorp PCR Test Home Collection Kit. They said all three tests have received FDA Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), do not require a prescription and are intended for use by people with or without symptoms.

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. â Virginia state health officials say this year there have barely been any flu cases reported.
As COVID-19 has created a new way of living for people around the world, itâs also caused the number of reported flu cases to fall astronomically.
âWe re really pleased to see that those numbers are small,â said Jeff Stover with the Virginia Department of Health. Across the country, we ve seen flu almost nonexistent.â
The Virginia Health Department tracks the flu case numbers weekly. There have barely been any cases across the state, and February has historically been a peak time for flu season.
