YOUNGSTOWN After her arrest Monday by the U.S. Marshals Service, Jayce R. Klink, 21, of South Avenue was taken to jail and later arraigned on aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault charges in a Dec. 2 crash that killed one woman and seriously injured her sister.
Klink was the driver of a vehicle that collided with another being driven by Sharenda Whatley, 32. A passenger in her car, her sister Tiara J. Whatley, 35, a nurse and mother of four, died. Sharenda Whatley was badly injured.
A Youngstown police report states the crash happened at 9:44 p.m. and involved two vehicles near the northbound Glenwood Avenue exit of Interstate 680. The crash blocked the northbound lanes of the interstate.
The crash was at 9:57 p.m. The driver left the scene.
Lt. William Ross of the Youngstown Police Department, commander of the traffic division, said it appears Pritchard, 59, was dragged about 900 feet from the location where he was hit and was found on North Garland Avenue.
The police department is hoping to reach “anyone who may have seen something or if someone can provide additional investigative leads in order to bring closure to the family in this case,” Ross said.
Ross said anyone with information is asked to call the YPD’s new, confidential tip line at 330-742-8YPD or Crime Stoppers at 330-746-CLUE. Reward money is available “for any credible information that brings closure on this case,” Ross said.
