ALBANY, Ore. A Tangent was convicted of murder and assault Wednesday in Linn County Court.
Chad Cheever, 47, killed his uncle Donald Whisenhunt in September of 2018. However, Cheever claimed his innocence until the very end. He admitted in letters to KEZI that he did get into a physical altercation but he wasn t the one who killed his uncle. He claims after Whisenhunt was knocked unconscious, he was left unattended in his yard and other elements caused his death.
In the letters, Cheever said he got into a fight with his uncle after learning Whisenhunt sexually abused his daughter. But the jury didn t believe his story. He was convicted of second-degree murder and second-degree assault.
