ORANGE The Police Department is in the middle of a series of patrol and education campaigns funded by a state grant.
Police Chief James Sullivan explained he received $12,000 from the state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research to create five month-long campaigns in which overtime officers have a primary traffic law focus while on patrol. These campaigns focus on distracted driving, impaired driving and speeding. The grant reimburses the town for the officers’ overtime pay.

GREENFIELD A Greenfield man has a new set of wheels thanks to a vehicle donation nonprofit.
Jeremy Prevost received a used 2008 Saturn Astra earlier this month from Good News Garage, a charity that started in Burlington, Vt., in 1996. The vehicle will enable Prevost to more easily commute to his new job at Stop & Shop and to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he plans to continue his studies of environmental science once campus reopens.

GREENFIELD The Franklin County Justice Center’s phone system was up and running as of Tuesday afternoon, after being inoperative for about 10 days.
The Trial Court’s Judicial Information Services Department, which is responsible for the court’s technology systems, worked with multiple telecommunication and network partners to identify the cause of the phone system’s outage and worked with provider Verizon to address the ongoing issues, Trial Court spokesperson Erika Gully-Santiago said Wednesday.
