TORRINGTON – When Kyle Casey didn’t like that a Black security guard was looking at him Tuesday, he turned his attention away from the conversation he was having with a woman inside the lobby at Torrington Towers and approached the security booth where Reynold Boyce was stationed, police said.
Police allege there was one reason for what happened next: racial bias.
Casey, 32, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics based on his posture and demeanor, then approached Boyce, police said. Boyce shut the door to the security office at 52 Summer St. in anticipation of an assault, police said.
