TOKYO, July 19 (Xinhua) A senior Chinese Olympic official expressed support to the Tokyo Olympic Games on Monday, saying China is willing to work together with all the stakeholders to make the upcoming Games a success.
The Chinese delegation highly appreciated the arduous efforts made by Japan to successfully host the Olympic Games in Tokyo, said Liu Guoyong, secretary general of the Chinese delegation.
As the COVID-19 pandemic is still prevailing worldwide, the Tokyo Olympic Games Organizing Committee and all the sectors of Japanese society, with the support of the International Olympic Committee and the rest of the world, overcame many obstacles to prepare a wonderful stage for all the athletes to realize their Olympic dreams, said Liu.

North Korea lashed out at Japan, Saturday, for its claim to Dokdo, two South Korean islets in the East Sea calling it a shameless act. The Japan sports world has reached the extremes in its shameless act designed to seize Tok Island, part of the inviolable territory of Korea, even in defiance of the sacred idea and spirit of the Olympic movement, a spokesman for the North s Olympic Committee said in a statement carried by the country s official Korean Central News Agency.
The statement comes amid a renewed row between Seoul and Tokyo over the latter s claims to the South Korea-controlled islets.

Tokyo, June 10 : Tokyo Olympic Games could see a ban on alcohol in dining and public areas of the Games Village although athletes will be allowed to consume it inside their rooms. In case they were to drink inside their own rooms this is equivalent to cases where we are drinking in our own home, Toshiri Muto, CEO of Tokyo Olympic Games Organising Committee, told Japanese media.

KUALA LUMPUR: A screenshot purportedly of Malaysia’s participation in the Tokyo Olympics having been rejected, as has gone viral on social media, is fake news, said the National Sports Council (NSC).
“This is fake news. The Malaysian contingent will definitely go to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games,” the NSC said through their latest posting on Facebook.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) also denied the news on its Twitter account, saying they did not receive any information from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Organising Committee regarding the matter.
“The statement from @Twt PutrajayaWP is not true at all,” the OCM tweeted.
