Under uncertain pandemic conditions last year, the delayed 2020 spring sale brought in $57,715,000 from 634 horses, or an average of $91,033 per horse. This year’s average was back up to $102,224 per horse, though still shy of 2019’s average of $108,227 per horse.
A return to normalcy for OBS, horse industry
“It seems very good out there, Wojciechowski told the Star-Banner before Wednesday’s auction kicked off. “The consigners have brought a lot of good horses to market, and there seems to be people here to buy them.”
After last year’s sale was pushed back two months, which pushed OBS’s June sale to July, Wojciechowski felt being back in their normal calendar position “was kind of like putting on an old pair of shoes,” noting the industry’s desire to return to normalcy.
