LAS CRUCES - Las Cruces police have arrested a 15-year-old boy believed to be responsible for the May 15 armed robbery at a local Dollar Tree store.
The teenager, who police will not publicly identify because of his age, is charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
About 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery committed at the Dollar Tree store, 1701 E. University Ave. Officers arrived and learned the suspect used a semiautomatic handgun during the robbery. He used the gun to threaten two employees before fleeing with cash from the store’s register.

Police are not identifying the suspect since he is a minor. He s been charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The night of the incident, officers responded to 1701 E. University Ave. When officers arrived, they said suspect used a semiautomatic handgun during the robbery. He allegedly used the gun to threaten two employees before fleeing with cash from the store’s register.

LAS CRUCES - A pair of men from Roswell were arrested early Monday morning after a Las Cruces police officer spotted them burglarizing a vehicle that was abandoned on the side of the Interstate 25.
About 3 a.m. Monday, May 24, a Las Cruces police officer spotted a Ford Taurus parked in the center median of I-25 south near the split with I-10. The officer pulled over to observe the suspicious circumstances of the vehicle and its occupants.
While watching the vehicle, the officer spotted two men removing items from a Toyota sport utility vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the northbound lanes of I-25. The officer saw as one of the men removed an ice chest from the Toyota and take it to the Ford.

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico A 55-year-old Las Cruces man was arrested Monday on accusations that he repeatedly raped a 5-year-old girl and made threats against her family to keep her silent about the sex abuse, police said.
Manuel Olivas was charged with six felony counts including criminal sexual penetration of a minor and criminal sexual contact of a minor.
Monday s arrest came after police obtained a warrant following an investigation that was launched in February when authorities said they first learned of the allegations.
