Johnny Pacheco, arrested on 62 felony counts involving child sex abuse.
UPDATE, May 13: A judge on Thursday granted release on $35,000 secured bond to a Las Cruces man facing 62 felony charges involving child crimes.
Third District Court Judge Richard Jaquez rejected a request by prosecutors to keep Johnny Pacheco, 48, jailed until trial.
Pacheco is accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl over a several year period that began when she was just age 14.
ORIGINAL REPORT, May 8: LAS CRUCES, New Mexico A Las Cruces man who authorities allege sexually assaulted a teenage girl over a several year period has been arrested on a total of 62 felony charges.
Joseph Hernandez, 32, is charged with a fourth-degree felony count of negligent arson and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass. About 11:15 p.m. Friday, May 7, Las Cruces firefighters were dispatched to the report of fire at an abandoned home on the 900 block of east Bowman Avenue. An alert neighbor saw the fire and called 911.
Las Cruces firefighters arrived to see flames in the front bedroom. Firefighters attacked the blaze from outside the home and had it under control within five minutes. After gaining access to the home, firefighters determined there were no occupants inside and no injuries were reported.
Approximately two weeks prior to the fire, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the home and found Hernandez on the property. Police issued a trespass card to Hernandez at the time.
Las Cruces police located Saenz early Tuesday evening on the 300 block of east Griggs Avenue. Officers arrested him on a warrant obtained by LCPD investigators. Saenz is charged with two counts of criminal damage to property, one count of burglary of a vehicle and one count of non-residential burglary. All four charges are fourth-degree felony counts.
About 5 a.m. Saturday, April 24, Las Cruces police learned that the front windows at Beck’s Roasting House and Creamery, 130 N. Mesquite St., were shattered and someone had entered the business. The restaurant was vandalized with equipment and merchandise damaged and scattered throughout the businesses.
Las Cruces man suspected of stabbing niece

LAS CRUCES - A Las Cruces man is suspected of stabbing his 21-year-old niece multiple times on Monday.
Adam Alavarez, 35, of 1050 S. Triviz Dr., is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from the Las Cruces Police Department. The charge is a third-degree felony.
Shortly before noon on Monday, May 10, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing at an apartment at 1050 S. Triviz Dr. Officers arrived and quickly detained Alavarez as he walked out of the apartment, the release stated. Inside the apartment, officers found his 21-year-old niece suffering from multiple stab wounds to her face and neck.
Steven Arechiga, 26, of the 16000 block of Furnace Street in the community of Organ, N.M., is charged with one third-degree felony count of aggravated assault upon a peace officer and fourth-degree felony counts of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, burglary of a vehicle and two counts of unauthorized use of a bank card. He also faces a misdemeanor count of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
About 8 a.m. Friday, May 7, Las Cruces police learned that a 2013 Nissan Altima was stolen from a woman who had left keys inside the vehicle. Sometime after the theft, the woman learned that her bank card was used at a local Walmart.
