Wicomico County public schools will remain in a four-day in-person school week, with Wednesday remaining an asynchronous day, for the remainder of the academic year.
Superintendent Donna Hanlin announced the decision at Tuesday s Board of Education meeting, noting moving to five days would not be physically possible given student population and requirements laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All feedback . has been from parents and a few staff members, and that is supporting that one more change is not in anyone s best interest, Hanlin said.
Hanlin said there are still students on the wait list for in-person learning due to the required 3 feet of social distancing for desks by the CDC. Six feet of distancing is still mandated in cafeterias and would also be required in high schools if the community metrics continued to rise, according to the superintendent.
