Two-Alarm Fire Takes Entire Home on Bellingham Ave – Everett Independent

Firefighters made a quick stop on a fire Saturday night in 7 Bellingham Ave. that eventually took down the home, making it a total loss. “The companies made pretty good work of it and kept it from spreading,” said Chief Tony Carli. “It’s a very tight neighborhood. It was tremendous work by everyone and there were no injuries…It could have been a lot worse in that neighborhood, especially at that time of night. Oddly, it was a vacant home, which is odd in this housing market. From our investigation, it seems it was tied up in an estate and that’s why it was vacant. We brought in the State Fire Marshal and our investigation team to look at it. It is at the moment still under investigation.”

Fire Chief Carli Details Plan for 18 New EMS/Firefighters – Everett Independent

Fire Chief Tony Carli appeared before the Council Monday night to discuss the first month of the new program to cross-train new firefighters as EMTs – noting that all 18 had been hired and are now working with Cataldo Ambulance for training, though he did not that though they are City employees they are not specifically assigned to Everett. The plan is a strategic plan that has been in the works for several years, and Mayor Carlo DeMaria and the chief put the plan into place on April 5 when they hired 18 new people to begin the road to a new in-house ambulance/fire service – since most of the Fire Department calls are medically related, Carli said.
