Don t look for Mark Giangreco to be back on the radio any time soon, Robert Feder writes.
The veteran Chicago sportscaster had been a fixture for years on Good Karma Brands ESPN sports/talk WMVP 1000-AM, where he d join afternoon hosts Tom Waddle and Marc Silverman in the studio three times a week.
But Giangreco hasn t been on since late January when he was placed on administrative leave, and eventually fired, as top sports anchor at ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7 over comments directed at news anchor Cheryl Burton.
His settlement with ABC 7 doesn t prevent him from working elsewhere, but it s not clear if or when he ll return to ESPN 1000.

It s been five weeks since Chicago s most prominent sports anchor was last seen on the city s top-rated television station, where he s been a fixture for 27 years, Robert Feder writes.
But the bosses of ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7 have yet to explain or even acknowledge the absence of Mark Giangreco, leaving viewers in the dark and prompting co-workers to wonder if he ll ever return.
Calls and texts to Giangreco and his longtime agent, Joel Weisman, were met with the same no comment as those to John Idler, president and general manager of ABC 7, and his representatives. Crickets all around.
What s known for sure is that Giangreco, 68, made his last appearance on the air January 28. Except for a few random tweets, he hasn t been heard from since. He s also been missing as a contributor to Tom Waddle and Marc Silverman s afternoon show on Good Karma Brands ESPN sports/talk WMVP 1000-AM.
It’s a hot market for sunrooms these days, said Taylor Waddle.
Waddle and her husband, Tom, bought Wilmington firm Porch Conversion, a company that turns patios, porches and unused outdoor space into three- and four-season sunrooms, in January. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
The couple now owns the business and its nearly 15,000-square-foot facility at 6821 Market St., Wilmington.
The Waddles entered into the transaction, using an SBA 7(a) loan, for “a couple different reasons, one being we’ve both worked at Porch Conversion in the past so we re familiar with the company, and the second one is that the construction industry is booming,” Taylor Waddle said. “People are moving down here like crazy. People are spending a lot of money on their homes and updating things versus traveling and things like that.”

Chicago Bears Chairman George McCaskey did interviews with 670 The Score and ESPN 1000 in Chicago on Thursday afternoon. And while I plan on diving deeper into both of those chats later on, I did want to address something that stuck in my craw in both radio hits first.
McCaskey ended both interviews saying “Go Rams!”
An obvious nod to the Packers’ opponent this weekend wasn’t unexpected. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. So in this case, Bears fans are Rams fans this weekend. Heck, I, myself, have stated our Twitter account is a Rams fan account for the second time in three weeks. Who woulda saw that coming in 2017?
