A staffer at the Department of Corrections is one of four people seriously injured in a stabbing rampage at a Dunedin supermarket on Monday.  At around 2:30pm on Monday, a man allegedly stabbed four people - including two supermarket employees - at Countdown Dunedin Central on Cumberland St.  On Tuesday, Corrections  southern regional commissioner Ben Clark confirmed one its staffers is among the injured.

A fourth person remains in a moderate condition, Southern police district commander Paul Basham told reporters. All four required surgery but none were in intensive care. This is a positive sign; however, they have a long road ahead, Basham said. He could not say how many stab wounds the victims had, saying the matter was before the courts. Two police officers, including one who was off-duty, were in the supermarket at the time of the stabbing and intervened.
