New COVID-19 cases in Ohio stayed below 2,000 for the 10th straight day. It’s the longest stretch of days with fewer than 2,000 cases reported in the state since a 14-day span from March 4 to 17. The only period in the state with a longer consecutive streak of daily cases below 2,000 per day was from the start of the pandemic in March 2020 through Oct. 13. The 1,396 new COVID-19 cases Monday was down from the daily average of 1,846 for the past 21 days, according to the Ohio Department of Health. The state had a total of 1,065,702 COVID-19 cases as of Monday with 1,009,639 presumed recovered. The ODH provides death information only on Tuesdays and Fridays. There were 19,122 COVID-19 deaths in the state as of Friday.
