Niles man sues Warren police over alleged false arrest in 19 | News, Sports, Jobs

gvogrin@tribtoday.com WARREN A 32-year-old Niles man is suing the city of Warren, its police department, the police chief and several unnamed officers for an alleged false arrest in 2019. An attorney for Bryant Lee Moore of 26 Valencia Drive, Niles, filed a federal civil rights complaint in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 4. The complaint claims his constitutional rights were violated because he was “unlawfully, without probable cause and due to his race of Black American, detained and incarcerated” on Feb. 6, 2019, by police officers on warrants for two counts of felony assault. According to the suit filed by Moore’s attorney, Gilbert Rucker, the plaintiff voluntarily reported to the city police department upon hearing of his outstanding warrants and presented a valid alibi to prove his innocence. Despite this action, Trumbull County jail records show Moore, who also gave a Williamsburg Street NW address in Warren, to be incarcerated from 6:22 p.m. Feb. 6 until

WARREN A Liberty condominium group of 41 lot owners within the Kline’s Farm development has sued the community development group, its real estate agency and others, alleging violation of community rules. Members of Kline’s Cove and its condominium association filed a lawsuit in late January in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court against Kline’s Farm Community Inc., Altobelli Real Estate, Home and Land Developers, Kline’s Farm Master Association and BrodMor Inc. property management group. The owner of Altobelli Real Estate, however, said the lawsuit comes down to difficulties with one individual in the condo group. A check of the Trumbull County Auditor’s Office website shows that single-dwelling properties in the development are valued in the $240,000 to $280,000 range. The condos at Kline’s Cove are rental properties, with leases going for $1,200 per month.

Court rules harassment suit against engineer can be refiled | News, Sports, Jobs

rfox@tribtoday.com WARREN A ruling from the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals clears the way for a former Trumbull County Engineer’s Office employee to refile part of a lawsuit against Engineer Randy Smith. Former safety compliance officer Ken Kubala filed a civil case in 2018 against Smith, claiming Smith perpetuated sexual harassment and First Amendment right violations while Kubala worked for him. Kubala worked in the position from 2011 to 2018. Kubala’s claims center on the last three years of his employment. The case was moved to federal court, where a magistrate in Youngstown dismissed the claims at the end of 2019. Through attorney David Engler, Kubala filed an appeal of the decision to dismiss the claim.
