Barbera Minns: Correction

The restraining order relates to Davey s Close, Falmouth In an article published online at thepacket.co.uk last Tuesday, April 13, we reported that Barbera Jean Shirley Minns, of 17 Davey s Close, Falmouth, was accused of breaching a restraining order made against her in August 2018 and that an application had been made at Truro Magistrates Court to vary the order. We are happy to clarify that Mrs Minns has in fact already been convicted of breaching the order, on January 14 this year, and that the most recent court hearing, on April 12 and due to resume on May 7, is simply to vary the restraining order.

Cornwall lettings landlord Julie Stoddern, Camborne banned

Following a hearing on March 3, the tribunal decided to issue an immediate Banning Order.  The order, which is subject to appeal, bans Stoddern from letting houses, letting agency work or property management work in England. The latest offences came to the attention of the Council’s Private Sector Housing Team during the first national lockdown due to concerns that the house risked increasing community Covid transmission. Stuart Kenney, from the team, said: “Prosecution, including fines issued by Truro Magistrates’ Court, have seemingly not deterred repeat offending and the Council has exhausted all options available to encourage compliance. “There have been multiple reports of antisocial behaviour and police attendance to the address over several years, with a demonstrably high community impact linked to the offending.

Perranporth holiday let owner fined for breaching fire laws

The owner of a self-catering premises in Perranporth has been ordered to pay a total of £3,780 in fines and costs after his premises failed to meet fire safety regulations. Mr Nicholas Lane, the sole owner of 13 Liskey Hill, Perranporth, was fined £709 (reduced from £1,064 to account for his early guilty plea) after pleading guilty to four offences under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. He was also ordered to pay £3,000 in costs and a victim surcharge of £71 when he appeared before Truro Magistrates’ Court. The offences related to a number of failures in the fire safety standards identified by officers of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) in 2019, following a complaint from a guest staying at the property.
