Business angel investing grew in 2020, despite pandemic

Business angels invested over €14m in start-ups across the island of Ireland in 2020, despite the pandemic induced restrictions throughout the year.
This is according to the latest figures from HBAN, the Halo Business Angel Network.
HBAN is the all-island organisation responsible for the promotion of business angel investment, and is a joint initiative of Enterprise Ireland, InterTradeIreland and Invest Northern Ireland.
Business angels are typically former entrepreneurs and other high net worth individuals who have experience and networks available to assist start-ups to grow and accelerate their business development.

The office of the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) is now live with its new website and members of the public can access it at (www.cpo.gov.tt).
It went into effect earlier this month, a statement from the department said.
The website is expected to improve communication with all of the department’s stakeholders in pursuit of the National Development Strategy Vision 2030 Theme II: “Delivering Good Governance and Service Excellence.”
A statement from the department has quoted Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) Commander Dr Daryl Dindial as saying: “The delivery of services and information to citizens and stakeholders of the Personnel Department is one of the critical success factors to measure the effectiveness of the Department in achieving its mandate on behalf of the State.”

Cebu City 2nd District Rep. Rodrigo Abellanosa has filed a bill seeking the mandatory appointment of information and communications technology officers for the provincial, city and municipal governments to strengthen the digital transformation capacity of local government units (LGUs) in the country.

Under House Bill No. 8420 or the proposed “Local Information and Communications Technology Officer Act”, the lawmaker cited the need to create such local government position that will be responsible and accountable for the implementation of digital transformation in the LGUs.
“As we were forced to implement drastic measures to improve our digital infrastructure, we must also make sure that we have sufficient people who are equipped to manage such infrastructure, as well as the ability to design and employ the necessary processes for a full digital transformation,” Abellanosa said in his bill’s explanatory note
