Data-driven projects join cross-university Venture Builder Incubator 19th April 2021 Venture Builder Incubator cohort TWENTY-seven data-driven projects have been chosen as the first cohort of the University of Edinburgh’s Data-Driven Entrepreneurship Venture Builder Incubator. The incubator will support postgraduate students, post-doctoral researchers and academic staff looking to solve major global challenges. It will bring their research to market as part of the ambitious Data-Driven Entrepreneurship Beacon Programme at the University to support post-Covid recovery. The incubator is the first at the University to include students from Heriot-Watt University, making it a pioneering collaboration between the two universities. It is also the first at the University of Edinburgh to be delivered in partnership with edventure, a pan-European university venture builder and accelerator launched in September 2020 by three Edinburgh students, Zara Zaman, Ragnor Comerford and Fynn Co

Dell, Nvidia win supercomputing contract with top UK universities

The company s technology will help the project in its quest to solve some of the universe’s biggest mysteries, including the nature of dark matter and understanding the basic building blocks of galaxies and solar systems. The University of Cambridge has been kitted out with over 400 PowerEdge C6520 servers, complete with the recently announced 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, for use in its Cambridge Service for Data Driven Discovery (CSD3) system. CSD3 will also deploy over 80 PowerEdge XE8545 servers which are configured with 3rd Generation AMD Epyc processors and Nvidia A100 Tensor Core GPUs with NVLink, which it claims creates a powerhouse of a system capable of AI and advanced computing workloads.
