SpaceLink to test super fast optical connection to ISS

SpaceLink to test super fast optical connection to ISS August 3, 2021 SpaceLink to test super fast optical connection to ISS Source: SpaceLink website Edinburgh, 4 August 2021. – The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) selected SpaceLink for a demonstration of its 10 Gbps optical end-to-end relay service, SpaceLink said. CASIS is the manager of the International Space Station (ISS)´s in-orbit U.S. National Laboratory. The demo will allow the use of a 10 Gbps optical terminal which enables secure, continuous, real-time voice, video, and data exchange between the laboratory and Earth. Its relay network goes beyond NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) and ensures high capacity using the latest technology in optical communications, SpaceLink says.

US Tracking and Data Relay Satellite: SpaceLink To Improve International Space Station Comms

Close The International Space Station (ISS) may experience faster communications between them in the low-earth orbit and the crew in the ground, thanks to the relay satellite of SpaceLink. The North Virginia-based company that builds communications superhighways for the space economy said that it is expected to perform the demonstration of its relay satellite in 2024. StarLink Gets Funding To Demonstrate Relay Satellite for the ISS In a news release published by SpaceLink in PR Newswire, the company announced that the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), which manages the US National Laboratory for the ISS, selected them for a funded demonstration of its end-to-end relay satellite service. Hopefully, this will provide secure, continuous,

SpaceLink Wins ISS Space Communications Relay Demo Contract

SpaceLink will demonstrate its space-to-ground, end-to-end communications relay service for the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) under a new research contract awarded to the company on July 28. CASIS, the manager of the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory, selected SpaceLink during a competitive bid process during which companies proposed communications relay technology concepts capable of being utilized in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). SpaceLink said its relay network is designed to pick up where NASA‘s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) leaves off and go beyond with capacity that leverages optical technology. During its demonstration for CASIS, SpaceLink will attempt to validate the use of a 10 gigabit per second optical terminal, for real-time voice, video, and data exchange between ISS crew, onboard systems, experiments, and terrestrial users.
