NBI set to arrest, prosecute persons behind fake social media accounts – Manila Bulletin

Published April 30, 2021, 7:45 AM National Bureau of Investigation The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started its probe to identify, arrest and prosecute persons behind the “fake social media accounts” using the bureau’s name and logo or insignia. In its advisory issued last Thursday, April 29, the NBI warned the public against the fake Facebook page “NBI Online Appointment 2021.” “The public is hereby informed that a Facebook page ‘NBI Online Appointment 2021’ is not an official Facebook page of the NBI-Information and Communications Technology Division (NBI-ICTD) nor in any way connected to the said division or the NBI as a whole,” it declared.

Movement in Lockdown: Six lakh passes issued in 5 days

In the five days after the movement pass was introduced by police to ensure a strict lockdown , going to workplaces has been the most common reason for people availing the passes. Till 6:00pm yesterday from 11:00am on April 13, around 6.01 lakh people have taken the movement passes to travel for emergency reason during the lockdown that started on April 14. During the time, around 18.04 crore visited movementpass.police.gov.bd. Of the passes, the highest 2.07 lakh has been issued for job purposes, according to the analysis of the Police Headquarters Information and Communications Technology Division. Around 70,000 passes have been issued for other purposes, including taking parents to hospitals and travelling from Chattogram to Dhaka to catch emergency flights.
