The Ford government’s escalating rhetoric about closing the borders and banning international students is racist dog whistle politics that has nothing to do with fighting COVID-19, and the Federal government must not enforce border controls unfairly targeting anyone, said the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario.

This week is National Work Zone Awareness week and the Michigan Department of Transportation is using the week to remind drivers about slowing down in work zones to keep their crews safe.
Bob Helsel is one of the thousands of MDOT workers who will be working in road construction zones in the coming months, just feet away from drivers who sometimes are driving too fast or driving distracted.
MDOT says those are the two most common factors they see in work zone crashes.
“It’s frustrating for the employee, often time’s we’ll have a spotter and they’ll let us know to get back when someone is driving in excess of speed or not paying attention, because we’re out here doing a service for the public and we want the driver and the employees to all be safe,” said Helsel.
