JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi’s airports are receiving $11.6 million from the federal government to help with revenue lost due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“This funding will help airports to withstand the drop in traffic from COVID-19 and facilitate economic development as we work to recover,” Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker said in a statement Friday.
In all, the Federal Aviation Administration awarded $11,622,567 to Mississippi, with the largest grants being:

The Golden Triangle Regional Airport collaborated with six hotels, several restaurants, and numerous airline services to create a safe outlet for travelers to use.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - The Golden Triangle Regional Airport, like many airports across the country, has seen a decline in the number of people using airlines to travel.
Mike Hainsey is the executive director of the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.
He said prior to the pandemic, the airport offered four flights daily at 90% capacity; however, since the coronavirus, the crew limited flights to two or three a day.

A group of travel and hospitality businesses located in Mississippi’s Golden Triangle region announced today the formation of Mississippi’s Trusted Triangle coalition. Each member of the coalition has adopted strict COVID-19 safety and cleanliness standards designed to give travelers peace of mind when traveling to the region.
