PEKIN Authorities were investigating the death of someone who was found inside a burning residence last weekend in Pekin.
Fire and police personnel responded about 2 p.m. April 10 to a house ablaze on Gunion Avenue. Firefighters extinguished the flames, but they also found a body.
That prompted Pekin police to begin a death investigation. As of Tuesday morning, the investigation was ongoing, according to police spokeswoman Billie Ingles.
Police did not reveal the dead person s identity, nor the address of the fire. It was not clear if he or she died as a result of the fire.
A message was left for Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley.
