Rutherford County Adult Detention Center Receives State Certification for 5th Time in 5-Years May 04, 2021 at 10:39 am by WGNS   Rutherford County Adult Detention Center earned state certification for the fifth time in five years. Tennessee Corrections Institute staff inspected the facility last month and the results showed no deficiencies during the annual review, said Jail Administrator Chris Fly. TCI staff cover the following categories during inspections: • Physical plant. • Classification Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said the results of no deficiencies shows the hard work the men and women of the detention facility display each and every day. “As a result of that work, this is the fifth time we’ve been able to be certified with no defects in our facility,” Fitzhugh said. “I would like to thank our correctional officers for their attention to detail and because of their dedication, we are able to achieve these positive results.”

Hartford police sergeant under investigation for use of force against a woman Hartford police say no guns, tasers, pepper spray, or other implements were used during the March 15 incident. A Hartford police officer is under a criminal investigation after his use of force against a woman, say police.  Police Chief Jason Thody released a statement on the incident saying he referred Sgt. James Guzie to Hartford s State Attorney Sharmese Walcott. Sgt. Guzie is a nine-year veteran of the Department.  Police say on March 15 while officers were processing an arrested woman in the Department s Detention Division, she struck and spit at officers. Use of force was then used by the Detention staff.
