A Chatham-Kent police officer who has been incarcerated since mid-January could have a chance at getting out on bail soon.
Cristelle Vanden Enden made a brief appearance in a Chatham courtroom Thursday via teleconference, where the court heard a judicial pre-trial is being held May 13 for the officer.

A thief who tried to elude police by riding a motorcycle through a farm field received a reduced sentence Friday due to the “extraordinarily harsh” conditions he endured from jail overcrowding, lockdowns and an ant infestation.
Ontario Court Justice Ronald Marion accepted a joint submission from Crown and defence lawyers that will see Jason Sylvestre receive extra credit for the 91 days he served in pre-sentence custody. With the credit, he must serve 14 more days.
